Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Plottie AI ("Plottie", "we", "us", or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ai.plottie.art and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Service Description
Plottie AI is an AI-powered scientific figure generation platform designed for researchers, scientists, and academics. The Service provides:
- AI-driven figure generation via natural language prompts
- Multi-LLM support including Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, and OpenAI GPT
- Secure code execution via E2B sandboxed environments for programmatic figures
- Interactive canvas editor for creating and refining scientific visualizations
- Export capabilities for publication-ready figures (PNG, PDF, SVG)
The specific capabilities available to you may depend on your subscription plan.
User Accounts
To use most features of the Service, you must create an account. You may register using an email address or Google OAuth via our Supabase-powered authentication system.
Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@plottie.art if you suspect unauthorized access.
You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or have been found to be fraudulent.
AI-Generated Content
You retain full ownership of the figures, diagrams, and other visual outputs ("Generated Content") that you create using the Service. Plottie does not claim any intellectual property rights over your Generated Content.
Your Rights: You are free to use, modify, publish, distribute, and export your Generated Content for any purpose — including peer-reviewed publications, conference papers, grant proposals, theses, and commercial applications — without restriction from Plottie.
By using the Service, you grant Plottie a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store and process your Generated Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service. We will not sell your Generated Content to third parties or use it for advertising without your explicit consent. See our License page for full details.
Credits and Billing
The Service operates on a credit-based system. Each AI generation request consumes credits depending on the complexity of the task and the AI models involved.
Credit Packages
- Free-tier accounts receive a limited number of credits per month
- Paid subscription plans provide additional credits and capabilities
- Credit packages can be purchased on our pricing page
No Refunds for Used Credits: Credits are non-transferable and expire at the end of each billing period unless otherwise stated. Used credits are non-refundable. We reserve the right to modify credit allocations and pricing with reasonable prior notice.
Subscription Credits: Credits included with subscription plans are also non-refundable once used. If you cancel your subscription, any remaining unused credits will be available until the end of the current billing period but will not be refunded. Downgrading your plan does not entitle you to a refund for credits already consumed under the higher-tier plan.
Disclaimers
AI Accuracy
AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or unexpected visual artifacts. We make no guarantee of the scientific accuracy, completeness, or fitness for publication of any Generated Content. You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying all Generated Content before use in any academic publication or official document.
Third-Party AI Providers
The Service relies on third-party AI providers. Your prompts may be processed by:
- Anthropic Claude — natural language understanding and reasoning
- Google Gemini — multimodal generation and visual reasoning
- OpenAI GPT — code generation and data analysis
- E2B — isolated sandbox environments for code execution
These providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of any third-party service.
Service Availability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Scheduled maintenance, upstream provider outages, or technical issues may result in temporary unavailability.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Plottie and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or reputational harm. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid to Plottie in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Generate or distribute scientifically fraudulent or deliberately misleading visualizations
- Inject malicious code or attempt to compromise E2B sandbox environments
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying AI models or pipelines
- Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
- Infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party
- Use automated tools to scrape or harvest data from the Service without consent
- Resell or sublicense access to the Service without prior written consent
- Use the Service in a manner that causes undue burden on our infrastructure
We reserve the right to investigate violations and take appropriate action, including suspension or termination of your account.
Termination
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion option in your settings. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately, and we may delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion, with or without notice, for conduct that we determine violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, Plottie, or third parties.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by email or an in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
